Internet for RVers: A Game-Changer with TravlFi

The best mobile internet for digital nomads

As a family of four who travels full time in our RV, we need mobile unlimited internet to work and homeschool our kids, and we’ve been trying out a new internet option the past few months that I’m really excited to tell you about.

Travlfi is an internet solution that’s perfect for RVers, travelers, and also for people who are stationary.

Why did TravlFi catch our attention?

  1. Unlimited Data

  2. multi-network

  3. pay-as-you-go

…everything an RVer needs for mobile internet!

Last year our traveling adventure led us to a wooded area in California where we spent 3 months, allowing our kids to play a season of baseball and soccer.

Here, our previous internet solution, Starlink, faced challenges with tree cover, and we experienced slower speeds due to being deprioritized. We knew that trees and Starlink don’t mix well, so we knew we needed something else for work and homeschool. Enter TravlFi

What sets TravlFi apart is its unique ability to work across multiple cellular networks.

Without the need for a traditional SIM, TravlFi devices automatically connect to the strongest signal. Whether stationary or on the move, TravlFi offers reliable internet for RVers anywhere there is cell signal.

Unlimited Data Internet for RVers: TravlFi's Flexible Plans

Pay As You Go: Perfect for Seasonal and full-time Travelers

TravlFi's plan flexibility is a major win for us. Their pay-as-you-go structure, including an unlimited data option, fits our lifestyle perfectly – especially with our yearly trips to Europe.

When we travel overseas, we simply turn it off and stop paying for it! It is super simple to turn it back on as soon as we need it.

Sometimes we don’t need unlimited data so their lower-tier plans help us save a lot of money when our data needs are smaller.

Hotspot Coverage in Mexico and Canada

If you have been following our travels for a while, you know that our RV travels aren’t limited to the U.S.

We spend significant amounts of time in the Baja peninsula and we have future plans of driving through Canada to Alaska.

TravelFi has plans that cover Canada and Mexico in addition to the U.S. which which is a game changer for RVers like us.

As I’m writing this, I’m using TravlFi for service while sitting on a beach in Mexico! We spend several months in Cerritos Beach, B.C.S. Mexico each winter and are happy to report that it is working just as well as we hoped in our favorite winter spot. (I do want to note that there currently is not an unlimited plan for Canada or Mexico).

TravlFi vs Traditional Mobile Internet Solutions

How does it differ from using a smartphone's hotspot?

Sure, a smartphone hotspot can be handy in a pinch, but the amount of data available for hotspots is rather limited. At one point we found a carrier with unlimited hotspot data for our phones, but speeds were capped, you have hope that the carrier has coverage where you want to go, AND the SIM didn’t work outside the US at all (not even for phone calls).

TravlFi takes mobile internet to the next level. It surpasses the typical single-provider limitation by tapping into multiple cellular networks, ensuring the strongest, most reliable cell signal everywhere we want to use it.

How exactly do the devices work their magic?

Embedded SIM (eSIM) technology is like a digital, smart SIM card built directly into your TravlFi device. Unlike traditional physical SIM cards, which you insert into your phone, the device itself integrates eSIMs. This innovation lets TravlFi automatically connect your device to the strongest nearby cellular signal.

It’s a reliable and flexible internet solution for anyone who requires connectivity while on the move. Check them out because Travlfi might be a good fit for you too!

What about Starlink?

There is no denying that Starlink is a revolutionary product that can bring you internet anywhere around the world. We do use it at times, but it has flaws and it simply is not perfect solution for every traveler.

  • Start-up costs for Starlink are expensive, 2-3x more than TravelFi, making it especially hard to justify if you need something for a short term or seasonally.

  • You NEED open sky. Even the palm trees of Palm Springs caused interruptions on Zoom calls and streaming services. Forget about the Pacific Northwest and many National Parks where open sky is obscured by thick forest cover.

  • Starlink speeds aren’t that fast in urban and suburan areas. We have spent seasons in Las Vegas and southern California and were not impressed with it’s performace, so why pay a premium for it?

  • Starlink isn’t mobile, it stays in our RV. If we want to work at the beach, a park, in the truck while driving, or anywhere outside the RV, Starlink is not coming with us.

Starlink is great for some travelers, but if these limitations apply to you, it may not be worth it.
